Diagnostic File Obtaining Guide

After logging in to a switch in command line mode, you can run the display diagnostic-information command to obtain diagnostic information. This command provides outputs of multiple commonly used display commands, including the startup configuration, current configuration, interface information, time, and system version.

The command displays the diagnostic information on screen or saves the diagnostic information as a text file. The command syntax is display diagnostic-information [ file-name ]. If the file-name parameter is specified, the information is saved as a file with the specified name. Otherwise, the information is displayed on the screen.

WARNING:

This command is used to collect diagnostic information for fault location. Executing this command may affect the system performance. For example, it may cause a high CPU usage. Therefore, do not run this command when the switch is running normally. Do not simultaneously run this command on multiple terminals connected to the switch. Otherwise, the CPU usage of the switch will increase sharply, causing system performance deterioration.

Saving Diagnostic Information to a File

Run the display diagnostic-information file-name command to save the diagnostic information to a text file. The following is an example:

The text file is stored in flash:/ by default. You can run the dir command in the user view to check whether the file is generated.

When the diagnostic file is generated, you can export the file from the switch using FTP, SFTP, or SCP. For details, see

Local File Management.

Saving Terminal Logs to Disk

Run the display diagnostic-information command to output the diagnostic information to the terminal screen. You can open the log file using a login tool, such as MobaXterm, to generate a diagnostic file.
