Calculation | Definition |
---|---|
Input Current |
The current supplied by the power source. Input Current = Apparent Power / Input Voltage |
Input Voltage | The voltage supplied to a device from an external circuit. |
Input Power |
The energy received from the power source. The input power varies by server load. |
Idle input power: | Indicates the power consumed when a server is in the idle state and the CPU enters the deep hibernation state. |
Maximum input power: | Indicates the power consumed when all components of a server are in the fully-loaded state and the fans adjust their speed automatically. |
Ultimate input power: | Indicates the power consumed when all components of a server are in the fully-loaded state and the fans spin at full speed (the fans spin at full speed because the CPU or component temperature is too high, the fans are faulty, the temperature sensor fails to read the temperature, or the ambient temperature is too high). |
Load Power | Power consumption of device (except for power supply device). Load power is equivalent to output power. |
Apparent Power |
The energy that a device draws from the power supply system to ensure stable running. In contrast to the real power consumed by an AC circuit, apparent power is the maximum power provided by a circuit or the maximum active power consumed by a circuit. Note: Apparent power is greater than input power because there are both energy-consuming components (such as resistors) and energy-saving components (such as inductors and capacitors) on the network. A certain amount of energy is stored on inductors and capacitors in addition to the power (active or input power) required for normal operation of a device. |
System BTU Hour |
The energy lost to heat during the energy conversion process, measured in British thermal units
(approx 1055 J). System BTU Hour = Input Power x 3600/1055 |
CO2 Emissions |
The volume of carbon dioxide produced for an hour of server operations. CO2 Emissions (kg/hour) = Input Power/1000 x 0.997 |
